What did you think when you read the title of this painting “Deep Blue”? Did you think of the deep blue sea?

The ocean is such an amazing thing.

On one hand it is terrifying! It’s waves crash and roar. It’s deep and powerful with activity happening below the surface that we don’t event know about. On the other hand, it is beautiful and peaceful. It’s waves lap the shorelines and the breeze cools the day.

This painting is a reflection of the deep blue sea - both the activity below the surface and the peace that can come from it.

It’s also a reflection of my Creator. The One who created the sea and the One who calms the sea.

Jeremiah 31:35 This is what the Lord says,

he who appoints the sun
    to shine by day,
who decrees the moon and stars
    to shine by night,
who stirs up the sea
    so that its waves roar—
